Stas Orlovski
Stas Orlovski
The Peter Miller Gallery is pleased to present recent work by Los Angeles-based artist Stas Orlovski in his first one person show in Chicago.
The imagery in Stas’s work springs from a black and white world of memories and fantasy, childhood fairy tales and adult neuroses: heads with curling black hair sprout flowers that in turn host butterflies while delicate plants reveal eyeballs instead of blossoms. Using a mix of techniques including collage and xerox transfers, these meticulously drawn images tread a line between discomfort and delight.
Stas Orlovski was born in Kishinev, Moldova. He received his BFA in 1992 from York University in Toronto, Canada, and his MFA in 1996 from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Recent exhibits include Art On Paper at the Weatherspoon Art Museum, curated by Ron Platt, Greensboro, NC and Cut, Pulled, Colored & Burnt, Hyde Park Art Center, curated by Michael Rooks, Chicago, IL
