Anne Siems
Anne Siems: Flowers, Faces, Birds and Dresses
Anne Siems produces gloriously decorative paintings that engage the viewer with references to the past, the female, the organic. Using a combination of paint, beeswax and paper, and a vocabulary that includes European, Latin-American and Indian iconography, she builds narratives that are strangely familiar. These paintings charm with their playful seduction, and engage the viewer with their references to primal forces and memory.
