Nicole Gordon: Airs and Graces
Nicole Gordon's paintings and installations combine figures from Medieval to Renaissance periods with scenes depicting contemporary suburbia. The figures are sampled from a range of sources including tapestries, scenic wallpaper and historical genre painting. These curious juxtapositions are further exaggerated through Nicole's use of unconventional materials such as glitter and rhinestones, conflating the past and present, binding them with pattern and ornament.
