The Speculative Lens: Landscape and Figurative Paintings
October 21 - December 3, 2005
STEVEN CRIQUI
Steven Criqui loves Los Angeles and it shows. This is the city Raymond Carver wrote
about, – intimate scenes of quiet domesticity and eccentric urban landscapes
blasted with migraine-inducing sunshine.
These images begin as photographs but are manipulated at every stage of their
process, ending up as paintings on canvas with references to both Vermeer and
Rosenquist.
