Matt Siber -- in the Main Gallery: The Untitled Project (Europe) and in the Project Room: Mr & Mrs Smith Go to Paris

Project Space: Laura Ball -- New Work

Matt Siber's Untitled Project was begun in the US in 2002. In this series, Matt isolated the text from the image, exploring issues of communication in the public space. The images on view were shot in Europe, and are intended to facilitate a cultural comparison.

The series Mr. and Mrs. Smith go to Paris was shot over the course of five days in Paris, France, and is comprised of 21 photos of advertising kiosks bearing the likenesses of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt as their screen personae, Mr.and Mrs. Smith. These classically composed street photographs raise issues of celebrity, mass advertising, and global culture.

Laura Ball paints utterly pristine watercolors and small canvases of constructed games played by her mother and 3 sisters. These charming and wickedly funny images reflect the dark undercurrents present in playful aggression and competition.
