The Peter Miller Gallery is pleased to present wargames (don't try this at home), an exhibit of pristine watercolors and dynamic oil paintings by Laura Ball.
Laura constructs and documents scenarios based on children's games that are enacted by her mother and three sisters. The resulting images are playful, innocent, and celebratory, capturing the exuberance and joy of childhood while nodding to the ambiguity present in all games that incorporate ritualized violence. These paintings deftly shift and slide between the two worlds, the world of fantasy and play with the world of aggression and war.
